Saffron x Rhythm Section present: Mix Nights Online

Join Saffron and Rhythm Section this summer for a new series of online community workshops

This summer, Saffron is delighted to team up with Rhythm Section for a special, three-month edition of Mix Nights Online — our flagship DJ workshop series.

Running from May to July 2025, this online programme will bring together our global communities for a series of workshops focused on building skills, nurturing creative exchange, and forging new connections within the electronic music space.

Each session will be led by a different artist from Rhythm Section’s roster, offering participants unique insights into the craft and culture of DJing. This edition’s line-up includes Private Joy, MLE, and Gayance, with sessions exploring not only the technical aspects of DJing but also its broader creative, historical, and somatic aspects.

All workshops will take place via Saffron’s digital members club, a dedicated online space accessible to women, trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people worldwide — either through a monthly membership or a one-off ticket.

SCHEDULE

22 MAY: Editing and Final Touches to Mixes in Ableton w/ Private Joy – 7.30 pm BST

Hosted by Rhythm Section’s Private Joy, this online workshop is for DJs who want to take their recorded mixes and give them a clean, professional finish

Using the DAW Ableton Live, we’ll cover how to build your set, make transitions, and use effects (like reverb, delay, and filters) to enhance flow and energy.  We’ll also look at post-production tips, before opening the floor to questions.

26 JUN: Selector to Label Curator w/ MLE – 7.30 pm BST

Being a selector is already a powerful form of curation — but taking that beyond your personal identity to represent a broader artistic vision can feel like a daunting leap.

In this session, MLE will explore the foundational steps of developing your identity within the label landscape — from defining the core values and ethos you want to convey, through to making artistic and sonic choices that bring that vision to life.

23 JUL: DJing with History, Heart & Somatic Healing w/ Gayance – 7.30 pm BST

Together with Gayance, we’ll explore the cultural lineages that shape genres like house, techno, afrobeat, baile funk and more, revealing how they interconnect and how you can confidently blend diverse sounds into a cohesive, intentional set.

We’ll also dive into the somatic and social power of music—how rhythm and bass move the body, create collective experience, and how DJs can honour that tradition through presence and purpose.

ACCESS

Access to these sessions is free for sustainer and soulmate members of Saffron’s online community, Saffron Members Club. Workshops are open to people worldwide but will be running at 7.30 pm UK time so please bear differences in time zone in mind. If you purchase a ticket but aren’t able to attend live, you will automatically be emailed a recording of the workshop(s) after the event.

GENDER POLICY

The gender imbalance in the music technology industry is well-recognised. While we are absolutely not ‘anti-men’, we see that a shorter-term solution is to provide fellowship and learning environments that are not dominated by the cisgender male perspective. Therefore, these workshops are intended for women, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming people to attend. While we do not ban cisgender men from attending, we hope that they will respect that this event is not intended for them.
