BRISTOL - BIRMINGHAM- LONDON
Under the wing of our supportive tutors, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of your subject, be able to explore your creativity and connect with other women, non-binary and trans people in a safe and encouraging environment. We usually run each course about three times per year in each of our key cities – Bristol, Birmingham and London. If you’re looking for online learning options, head over to Saffron Members.
The creation of modern music is increasingly reliant on access to digital technologies. Artists who understand the processes of producing, mixing and engineering music are empowered to take creative control over their sound and overall artistic direction.
Removing barriers to access is important to us, so at least 25% of places on each course are completely free. We value our partner organisations and venues that support these courses and are committed to powering positive change.

The Mix Nights beginner course focuses on beat-matching and learning to navigate CDJs. You will develop your listening skills and how to put a set together, as you’ll have the chance to put your new talent into practice at a public showcase club event at the end of the course. The ‘Beyond The Basics’ course is an intermediate-level experience for those ready to take their skills to the next stage.
This unique course in Bristol is presented in partnership with Bristol independent radio station Noods Radio, and their community arm, Noods Levels. You’ll get an introductory guide to creating and hosting radio shows, from show planning, recording and editing, to marketing, presenting and interview techniques. The course culminates with a takeover day on Noods, where you’ll have the opportunity to present your own one-hour show live on the radio.
Focusing on either studio or live audio, our engineering courses are great for aspiring audio engineers or artists who want to gain more control over their sound. The live sound course teaches participants about the setups that support live bands and DJs, along with the basics of how to use a live mixing desk. The studio course is focused on capturing and reproducing audio in studio settings and covers recording using a mixing desk.
