Saffron Threads: Noelia

Leaving roots in Spain for an opportunity filled London to embark on a journey of both musical and self discovery. This week, we caught up with Noelia who enrolled on the sound engineering course in 2021.

Eager to better their skills since landing in London, Saffron created a safe space for Noelia to learn the theory to sound and bond with the care that goes into the industry. A small group with a strong community, “the course felt personal and everyone was equal yet different – united by a desire to learn, be safe and respected.”

A key learning for Noelia was “the importance of community as an artist” and how that can “influence learning”. What they didn’t expect was how much that community was going to influence their confidence to be true to and accept themself.  

Since graduating from the course, Noelia proudly identifies as a they/them and has quit their job in hospitality to work in music full time. Teaching music by day and playing gigs by night was quickly the norm. This shift in focus led to vocalist work for Samsung and a Studio Runner job offer at StrongRoom Studios – a particular moment they are really proud of. 

With so much gratitude for the “amazing community”, Noelia is “constantly recommending Saffron” and strongly suggests that anyone considering a course should “just do it”.

Describing Saffron as an “amazing concept that represents a bright future”, Noelia believes there are “so many reasons to support Saffron. In my case, they did allow me to find myself personally and as a musician. They taught me to be open – and if they can continue to have that impact on others, the world would truly be a better place.”

Today, Noelia is on a mission to “keep growing, keep having fun, keep making music, and keep being true to themselves and their community.”
