Saffron For Sound consists of a collection of beginners music tech courses, covering aspects of music production, sound engineering and radio broadcasting
Our two sound engineering courses are great for aspiring audio engineers or artists who would like to gain more control over their sound. The live sound course teaches participants about various sound setups that support live bands and DJs, along with the basics of how to use a live mixing desk. The studio sound course is focused on capturing and reproducing audio in studio settings and covers recording and mixing using a mixing desk. Both courses give insight into the roles of a sound engineer and walk you through practical use of the equipment.
Our beginners music production courses are designed for anyone who has very little or no production experience and/or no experience using the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Ableton Live. In 6 weeks you will learn the fundamentals of producing a track using Ableton Live 11 and finish the course having developed a project of your own. You will be given an introduction to the software and its features and cover, drum programming, creative production, bass line and chords, arrangement and the basics of audio mixing.
Taught and mentored by Marley and Tilly, this unique course in Bristol is our newest offering, presented in partnership with Bristol independent radio station Noods Radio, and their community arm, Noods Levels. You’ll get an introductory guide to creating and hosting radio shows, from show planning, recording and editing, to marketing, presenting and interview techniques. The course culminates with a takeover day on Noods, where you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your own one-hour show live on the radio.
