We’re pleased to announce a new mini compilation of tracks on Saffron Records by producers at the cutting edge of the UK electronic and experimental scenes – Fiyahdred, Yushh, Private Joy

The release package includes the original tracks, as well as accompanying sample packs of loops, one-shots and atmospheric sounds for artists to recreate and remix in their own style.

Tracks can be streamed/downloaded individually on all digital platforms. Sample packs can be downloaded exclusively via Bandcamp

Fiyahdred – Bad Trip / Plus 28-piece sample pack

Renowned for bouncy selections, basslines and blends, Fiyahdred is a fast-rising favourite in UK bass. Inspired by the ’08/’09 House & UK Funky scene ,“Bad Trip” was produced in Logic Pro using plugins like Sylenth. Fiyahdred’s unique sound entwines the flamboyance of Black, Queer culture with inspiration from a spectrum of genres including Garage, Jungle, Soca, Dancehall and House. Their reputation as an exceptional and unique producer is recognised with releases on Hyperdub, Rhythm Section and Club Djembe.

Yushh – I Don’t Care Until I Do / Plus 20-piece sample pack

Yushh’s dubbed-out, atmospheric compositions are unmistakable. Focusing primarily on sound system-indebted low ends and phantasmic melodic details, they give the illusion of comprising infinite layers of sound; no eight-bar mimicking the last as if we’re listening to her experiment in real-time. 

The main melodic elements of “I Don’t Care Until I Do” are made up of parts recorded from UDO Audio’s Super6, with vocal recordings processed then run through a space echo before further processing in Ableton. The drums are heavily re-sampled – initially creating sequences on the Elektron Analog Rytm from samples recorded from instruments at home (Cajon & Shakers). 

Yushh’s music has found a home on vital UK dance music labels such as Rhythm Section, All Centre and her own imprint Pressure Dome. Her debut EP Look Mom No Hands, released on Wisdom Teeth in February 2023, was tipped by publications such as Resident Advisor and Juno, and inspired comparisons to Aphex Twin, and Ikonika.

Private Joy – Stay In My Life / Plus 20-piece sample pack

A key player on the Manchester music scene is charismatic vocalist, composer and producer Pops Roberts, aka Private Joy. Founder of the Lovescene neo-soul collective, Private Joy has released with Gerd Janson’s International Feel, Local Action/2 B Real, soundtracked Pikes Ibiza and won Bill Brewster’s much coveted “Furtive 50 Track of the Year”.

The instrumental and hooks in “Stay In My Life” were made from a one-take live from scratch performance on the Ableton Push 2. Vocal parts are built up from re-appropriated/sampled clips and and converted to become many of the parts you hear – horns, synths, lead lines. The track is a celebration of love and wanting someone to remain – the groove is a nod to soulful house, and broken beat.

Likened to Sade, Anita Baker vocally, Private Joy’s beats comprise a heady blend of alternative RnB, neo-soul, lo-fi, broken and afrobeats as she establishes her place in the ever-evolving UK scene.
