Echo Juliet
Echo Juliet (aka Emily) is a producer, DJ and percussionist based in Birmingham. She is a classically trained musician who fell for the allure of electronic music, using her first love of percussion as the defining element of her sound. Receiving comparisons to Four Tet and Bonobo, her colourful electronica has attracted the support of BBC 6Music and NTS tastemakers such as Tom Ravenscroft, Steve Lamacq and Cerys Matthews. She recently collaborated with one of her musical heroes, Gold Panda, and received support from Help Musicians and DJ Mag’s new Electronic Award.
Echo Juliet has a unique live set-up using a midi vibraphone, Ableton and drum pads which has seen her warming up for the likes of Anchorsong and DMX Krew, and playing Corsica Studios. DJ credits include We Out Here, SXSW, warming up for The Orb, Bradley Zero, Nightmares on Wax and many more.
Having spent over 10 years working in music curation for festivals and venues such as the Barbican, she is committed to creating a more inclusive music scene. She created and runs the Future Proof artist development programme for Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section label, teaches music production for Saffron and is a director of Selextorhood. Emily is also an accredited coach, has mentored artists for SXSW and BBC Introducing Live, and assesses funding applications for Youth Music.
