Saffron’s monthly workshops are part of the Saffron Members Club, but non-members who are women, non-binary people, trans or gender non-conforming folks may also purchase a ticket.
We’re delighted to have DJ/producer and Saffron music production tutor Giulia Tess on hosting duties for our next Tech Dissect – Saffron’s monthly series of online music production workshops.
With an extensive catalogue featuring a wide range of vocalists and MCs, Giulia will be demonstrating some of the vocal production techniques she uses in her tracks. This will include a variety of vocal manipulation skills including double tracking, distortion, reversing and other creative methods.
Whether you’re looking to manipulate samples to create an entirely different sound or optimise them in their natural form, this session will show you to make the most out of your vocal samples.
ABOUT GIULIA TESS
Italy-born London-based DJ and producer Giulia Campanella pulls the sonority of leftfield electronica into the side of percussive music in a refreshing and effortless way. Codifying the variety of influences trapped within Giulia Tess is like a journey through a maze: challenging, thrilling and yet, rewarding in the end.
Her musical range is wide and eclectic with influences including jungle, dancehall, Southern Italian music, trance perfectly blended with techno and leftfield house, creating her own unique and versatile style.
Having previously released More Time Records, Future Bounce and Ross from Friends’ label Scarlet Tiger, earlier this year the rising producer released two new productions across ‘I Feel You’ on HE.SHE.THEY. Fusing the infectious melodies from South London’s Ell Murphy with break-influenced beats and skippy electronics, the euphoric title production showcases Tess’ genre-bending style, while ‘Fru Fru’ delves into more hypnotic and experimental realms.
Alongside her production projects Giulia regularly plays around London clubs and festivals such as Phonox, The Cause, E1, Body Movements Festival and many more. Tess is also a resident DJ at Threads Radio and has appeared on NTS Radio, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 1xtra, BBC Asian network, Balamii and Reprezent, pro-actively supporting and engaging with fellow colleagues.
