Starting Out In Sound
24th February 2026
6-9PM GMT
Free / donation-based
A free event offering industry networking and career guidance for emerging sound engineers.
Looking to launch a career in sound engineering, or simply curious about the corner of the music industry? We’ve invited professionals from across the sector to share their insights and experience at this unique community gathering. Come along to connect with folks further along the path, discover different roles in the industry and the routes you can take to get there.
This event will include a panel talk and Q&A session, in which we’ll hear from touring engineers, production companies, venue representatives, tour managers, studio engineers and freelance live sound engineers about how they’ve broken into and navigated the industry.
This will be bookended by industry networking and advice fair. Dedicated stations will be hosted by a range of audio professionals, offering a relaxed space to network and ask for personalised input. Topics will cover: launching your career, studio sound, large-scale events, festivals and Bristol venues.
This is a donation-based event, with free tickets available for all who need them. Proceeds will go towards Saffron and its mission of breaking down barriers to the music tech industry for marginalised people. Our venue has limited capacity, so please register to secure your place.
This event is open to people of all genders, aged 16+
