PROMO FOR INTROVERTS

Join us for our first Industry Insights workshop of 2025, which will offer a supportive and safe space for marginalised music creatives to navigate the essential aspect of presenting their work—self-promotion.

Hosted by the ‘PR pirate of Ukraine’s electronic scene’, Alisa Mullen, this session will be an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and contribute your personal insights and questions.

“When it comes to self-promotion, we’re all a little introverted. Insecurity, shyness, awkwardness, and other conflicting emotions tend to disappear when we feel 100% clear about what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and the value we bring. This workshop goes beyond the basics of PR. Together, we’ll explore how artists can strengthen their role as key players in the cultural scene.

We’ll take a step back to reflect on the messages that truly resonate with us, and learn how to position ourselves and our projects with intention. As creatives and artists – not Silicon Valley startups – the same self-promotion rules don’t always apply. That’s why we’ll tailor strategies to suit individual needs, making PR healthier, more mindful, structured, and effective.”

About Alisa Mullen

Alisa Mullen has carved out a unique path in creative communications and ethical promotion. Blending artistry with strategy, she has been a driving force in bringing Ukrainian electronic music to the global stage. Her collaborations with renowned publications like The Guardian, The Rolling Stones, The Wire, and Groove have amplified voices from the underground to international audiences. As the founder of Strila Artists Agency, Alisa has guided numerous artists in mastering the art of self-promotion, empowering them to communicate their projects authentically and effectively.

Her workshop, Promo for Introverts, is a continuation of her deeply personal exploration into self-promotion. As a DJ and artist, Alisa observed dissonances and patterns in how creatives approach self-presentation in an industry dominated by extroversion and conventional PR tactics. She now shares alternative, practical tools to help introverted artists embrace their individuality and confidently navigate the complexities of self-promotion.

GENDER POLICY

The gender imbalance in the music technology industry is well-recognised. While we are absolutely not ‘anti-men’, we see that a shorter-term solution is to provide fellowship and learning environments that are not dominated by the cisgender male perspective. Therefore, these workshops are intended for women, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming people to attend. While we do not ban cisgender men from attending, we hope that they will respect that this event is not intended for them.
