SOUND FX AND SAMPLE BLENDING IN ABLETON LIVE

In this online workshop, we will explore simple and advanced techniques for adding depth to your tracks with Ukrainian-born, Berlin-based electronic music producer, Poly Chain.

Sound FX refers to the various audio effects that can be applied to tracks to create specific atmospheres, enhance sonic texture, or add movement to music. Sample blending is a technique for combining different audio samples to create a new, cohesive sound.

In this 90-minute session, Poly Chain will demonstrate the layering process using Drum and Instrument Racks with standard and external plugins, and touch on how to create space in your music using modular FX. She will also explore exciting aspects such as tuning, mapping, automating, and randomising samples.

Whether you’re an independent music creator looking to refine your sound, or a composer interested in creating samples for commercial and/or artistic soundtracks, this promises to be an informative, engaging and accessible session. Come along to connect with the Saffron community, ask questions and elevate your productions.

GENDER POLICY

The gender imbalance in the music technology industry is well-recognised. While we are absolutely not ‘anti-men’, we see that a shorter-term solution is to provide fellowship and learning environments that are not dominated by the cisgender male perspective. Therefore, these workshops are intended for women, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming people to attend. While we do not ban cisgender men from attending, we hope that they will respect that this event is not intended for them.
