Want to develop the confidence to put yourself out there and make the music you really love?
Join Holysseus Fly for an interactive and inspiration-packed workshop exploring songwriting as a catalyst for creative growth and flourishing.
In this session, Holly will talk about her journey from jazz vocalist to avant-pop princess, sharing how she birthed a bold and unapologetic new identity for herself after her battle with cancer.
She will then lift the lid on her creative process, showing how she nurtures songs from seedling ideas to full-blown productions. Focusing on a track dissect of her first solo single ‘Marigold‘, she will talk about: lyric-writing and its relationship to production, collaboration and processes of creative exploration.
There will also be a Q&A, plus plenty of opportunities to discuss as a group and share experiences.
ABOUT HOLYSSESUS FLY
When Holysseus Fly burst onto the scene with her 2023 debut solo EP ‘Birthpool’, it was clear that she was something special. Here we have a vocalist capable of delivering choruses that rise like thunder, alongside heartfelt lyrics that not only embraced her audience, but welcomed them into her journey of personal and creative reclamation, following her recovery from breast cancer in 2021.
As the vocalist, co-writer and pianist with critically acclaimed collective Ishmael Ensemble (whose most recent album Visions Of Light has amassed 10 million streams), Holysseus Fly has already made a powerful impression as a solo artist. Last year’s singles released on Severn Songs, including ‘Marigold’, ‘Bloom’, and ‘Teach Me’ (which was added to the 6 Music playlist) caught the attention of everyone from BBC 6 Music’s Chris Hawkins to Annie Mac, Craig Charles, Huey Morgan, and Jamz Supernova, while her winter 2023 UK tour which took in dates in London, Manchester and Bristol to rapturous reception.
This year has seen Fly support Nick Mulvey on a sold-out UK tour including the London Hammersmith Apollo, an artist residency at the prestigious Snape Maltings developing her live show, completing her participation on the New Voices program (supported by Arts Council, PRS and PPL) and releasing her follow up single ‘Out Of This World’ working with a team behind the likes of Madonna, Lorde and Florence + The Machine. The single was championed by Lauren Laverne and Chris Hawkins as his ‘Track of Dawn’. All this built up to her debut solo show at Glastonbury Festival and Forwards Festival sharing the lineup with CMAT, Jessie Ware and LCD Soundsystem.

Access to these sessions is free for members of Saffron’s online community, Saffron Members Club. Saffron Membership starts at just £5.50 per month and provides access to regular online workshops, an online community space, video masterclasses, free music tech tools, discounts and much more.
