Tech Dissect: Community Listening & Track Feedback

18th June 2024

7.30 pm BST

£8.30 or free for Saffron members

Saffron’s monthly workshops are part of the Saffron Members Club, but non-members who are women, non-binary people, trans or gender non-conforming folks may also purchase a ticket.

COMMUNITY LISTENING & TRACK FEEDBACK

Are you a woman, trans, nonbinary or gender non-conforming music creator? Do you have a work-in-progress track that you’d like to refine or simply get other people’s responses to? Join us online for our next Tech Dissect workshop, where we will be coming together as a community to listen to each other’s music.

HOW IT WORKS

We aim to create a space rooted in care where producers can build their confidence, connect through processes of active and compassionate listening, and gain skills in giving and receiving feedback.

If you would like to send in a track (either in full or just a short clip) for use in the session, please email members@saffronmusic.co.uk with your chosen audio file (preferably as an MP3 with a link to it on either Google drive, Soundcloud or Dropbox).

We know that sharing your music can be a nerve-wracking experience, but we encourage you to get involved if you feel able to. Getting constructive feedback in a supportive community setting can help you bring your tracks in line with industry standards, link up with potential collaborators and move towards finishing and releasing your music.

We will aim to spotlight as many submissions as possible, attributing equal time to each. If we have more submissions then time allows for, please don’t be disheartened if we don’t get round to yours – there will be more opportunities in the future. We recommend submitting your music as early as possible and joining the session live to maximise your chance of being featured.

We hope that everyone who joins the session will learn some tricks and tips, build community links with other producers/music folk and strengthen their active listening and critique skills.

Deadline to submit your music: Sunday 16th June 2024 6pm

We never want money to be a barrier to people accessing music tech, so if you are unable to afford a ticket but believe you would benefit from attending these workshops, please email us on members@saffronmusic.co.uk.

Workshops are open to people worldwide, but will be running at 7.30 pm GMT so please bear differences in time zone in mind. If you purchase a ticket but are unable to attend live, you will automatically be emailed a recording of the workshop(s) after the event.

We are committed to making our online events as accessible as possible. We have created a guidance document about this – Click here to view the accessibility document. Alternatively, please email us with any access requirements you may have: hello@saffronmusic.co.uk

GENDER POLICY

The gender imbalance in the music technology industry is well-recognised. While we are absolutely not ‘anti-men’, we see that a shorter-term solution is to provide fellowship and learning environments that are not dominated by the cisgender male perspective. Therefore, these workshops are intended for women, non-binary, trans and gender non-conforming people to attend. While we do not ban cisgender men from attending, we hope that they will respect that this event is not intended for them.
