Saffron Summer Party 2024

19th July 2024

7.30 pm

Pay-what-you-can

Over the past 9 months, Saffron has been working with four emerging Bristol-based music producers on a programme of artistic development. The project has centered around creativity, exploration and innovation through tech, facilitating the artists to invest in their practice and self-release their music.

Join us at Strange Brew to honour and celebrate this group of emerging music creators, who will be sharing their music for the first time. Also performing is Saffron’s latest label release Sheiva, Artist Development alumni Marla Kether and Private Joy, who has been supporting the participants on their journey throughout the programme.

About our Artist Development Project

Saffron Emerging – our latest artist development project reflects our core mission of addressing the gender imbalance in music tech, with particular support for Black and Black mixed Heritage women, non-binary and trans individuals. The project has aimed to provide each participant with the tools, opportunities and support to develop their careers.

Aside from the paid commission, programme activity has included access to 1-2-1 mentoring, Saffron membership and a 5-day retreat at Hawkwood College in the Gloucestershire countryside. The retreat gave space for the artists to share, create and reflect together with workshops facilitated by the likes of Afrodeutche and Sunun on topics such as advanced Ableton production, digital distribution, connecting to physical sound and more.

Saffron Emerging has been made possible thanks to PRS Foundation funding and additional support from Viagogo.
