CULTIVATING CREATIVITY BEYOND THE CLUB
How do you express the full suite of your creativity as an emerging DJ and how do you avoid getting pigeon-holed? Having spent many years playing within the house and techno scene, this is a challenge Daisy Moon has embraced through a variety of avenues and experiences.
Join her for our next Mix Nights Online workshop to find out how she’s found the freedom to showcase other sides of her sound, and opened up what it means to widen your practice. She’ll talk about how she’s creating spaces for DJs to experiment beyond the limitations of club settings through her experimental electronic music platform Off-Kilter, and share how you too can open up new avenues for yourself as a sonic artist.
She will cover:
– Alternative approaches to recording and putting together mixes/radio
– Building your identity as an artist
– Mix ideas, themes and creative decision making
– Promoting, producing and curating events / mix series
ABOUT DAISY MOON
Daisy Moon is a producer and DJ based in Bristol, UK. With a background in contemporary performance, her music intuitively assimilates the club-orientated sounds of house and leftfield techno with elements of experimental composition, field recordings and sound design. A refocus this year sees her building her club music repertoire, releasing music on Rhythm Section International and Control Freak Recordings. Other releases include; Reflections On a Flower-Garden (CURL recordings, 2020), Geometry of Curves (Idle Hands, 2019). She has played at clubs and festivals across Europe including Fabric (London), Tresor (Berlin), The White Hotel (Manchester), Love International and Dimensions.
Daisy is the curator of Off-Kilter, which is her most recent venture and manifests as a mix series and live/DJ events platform that nods to the experimental, murkier side of her tastes. Daisy is a member of Bristol and Berlin collective Housework alongside residents Shanti Celeste, Gramrcy and Golesworthy, and is also one of the co-founders and tutors (with Em Williams and Danielle) behind Mix Nights which is a course and community designed to encourage women, trans, non-binary and minority genders to learn how to DJ.
